Pizza

Ich stieg aus der U-Bahn und sah in sofort. Er saß auf der Bank, hatte sein Skateboard unter den Füßen, auf dem Schoß zwei Pizzakartons und er biß so unfassbar genüßlich in diese Pizzastücke – ich wusste sofort, dass ich ihn gerne fotografieren würde.

“Ich habe heute länger gearbeitet, war danach noch mit ein paar Freunden ein Bierchen trinken und jetzt hatte ich richtig Hunger. Ich war zum ersten Mal im Pizza Hut in Deutschland und die Kassiererin hat mir gesagt, dass es 2 für 14 Euro gibt. Das musste ich machen.
Ich habe den ganzen Tag auf der Bauma geholfen abzubauen. Das war die größte Messe jeher, denn diesmal haben sie wirklich alle Hallen und alle Außenflächen voll gehabt. Da ist echt ordentlich was zu arbeiten. Es ist ziemlich faszinierend, diese großen Bagger und Laster zu sehen, aber es ist eben auch echt anstrengend.
Ich bin Street Skater. Ich gehe nicht in Parks oder so, sondern fahre durch die Staßen und lass mich inspirieren. Hier ein kleiner Absatz, da eine Treppe. Das ist echt ein kreativer Prozess. Und natürlich eine ganze Lebenseinstellung.
Das Board hier hat meine Freundin gestaltet. Sie ist Designerin. Und ein Freund hat mir den Belag oben drauf spendiert. Das ist jetzt nicht super sauber ausgeschnitten, aber ich liebe das Board. Sie haben es mir zum Geburtstag geschenkt und es hat so eine tolle Geschichte. Ich habe es erst heute voll montiert: Die Rollen von meinem alten Board und mal wieder Kugellager gefettet. Es läuft wieder super klasse.
Ich finde cool, was du machst. Du läufst rum und siehst Dinge und Menschen, die vielleicht nur du siehst.”

I just stepped out of the subway and saw him. Sitting on a bench, a skateboard under his feet, two pizza boxes on his lap and munching these pizzas with such a delight and pleasure – I new immediately that I had to ask him.

“I just came from work after an extra long working day. After that I was out with some friends for a beer and now I am super hungry. This was my very first time at Pizza Hut in Germany. The offered me two pizza for 14 Euros. I could not resist.
I am working at the Bauma dismantle the whole area. This was the biggest fair ever: with all halls and all outside area open to the fair this year. There is a lot to do. I like those big diggers and earth movers – I think they are fascinating but it is also very exhausting.
I am a street skater. I am not going to parks or so. I cruise through the city and let the streets inspire me: here a little step, there some stairs. This is quite some creative process. And an attitude to life.
This board here is designed by girl friend. She is a designer. A friend of mine gave me the surface. It is not perfectly cut but I love the board. They gave it to me for my birthday just recently and it has its own story. I just put everything together today: the wheels from my old board, greasing the ball bearing and so on. I runs nice and smoothly.
I like what you are doing. You are running around and you see people and things and it is possible that you are the only one who sees them.”
