“Ich bin Kostümbildnerin an der Oper, allerdings derzeit “außer Dienst”, weil ich noch mal Elternzeit genommen habe. Wir haben zwei Kinder: der Kleine ist gerade 1,5 Jahre und die Große ist schon 10 Jahre. Wir haben den großen Abstand nicht gewollt und es gibt auch einige Reibereien, aber eigentlich klappt es ganz gut.
Die Große ist gerade ins Gymnasium gekommen. Das war und ist eine ganz schön große Umstellung. In der Grundschule wird zum Beispiel das Thema Rechtschreibung noch recht lax gehandhabt. Da ist die Umstellung ins Gymnasium wirklich groß und die Kinder müssen plötzlich noch ein Riesenstück erwachsener werden: jedes Fach ein anderer Lehrer und meistens sogar ein anderes Zimmer. Und diese Exen sind der Wahnsinn. Ich bin selber nicht hier in Bayern groß geworden, aber was für einem Druck die Kinder da ausgesetzt sind, ist echt verrückt. Immer in allen Fächern alles ständig parat haben – da schrumpft die Freizeit wirklich auf ein Minimum. Diese ständige Bedrohung ist wirklich furchtbar. Da brauchen wir uns nicht wundern, dass der Run auf die Waldorf- und Montessori-Schulen immer größer wird!”

We have two kids: the small one is only 1,5 years and the older one is alreay 10 years We did not plan such a big gap between them and there are some small hickups sometimes but in general it is working very well.
The older one is going to the secondary school (Gymnasium) now. This was and still is a pretty big change. In primary school for example they are pretty easy going with the spelling. But now they changed that dramatically and the kids have to grow up very quickly: in each subject they have a different teacher and most of the time even in a different room. And those Exen (quick tests) are crazy! I did not grow up here in Bavaraia but this content pressure they are putting on the kids is completely nuts. To be on top of all subjects at any time – their time for leisure time is shrinking to a minimum. This constant danger is really tiring. No wonder everyone is running to Waldorf- and Montessori-Schools nowadays!”
