childhood-dreams“Ich hab auch Fotografie studiert, aber gerade arbeite ich mich durch meine Liste der Kindheitsträume. Irgendwann konnte ich mich einfach nicht mehr motivieren zu fotografieren und anstatt einfach nichts zu tun, hab ich mir aufgeschrieben, was ich alles als Kind mal machen wollte. Und das mache ich jetzt nacheinander: Eis verkaufen, Bagger fahren, Dreadlocks wachsen lassen, ….. . Gerade verkaufe ich Eis auf dem Viktualienmarkt. Und irgendwann gehe ich dann einfach zur Fotografie zurück.”

“I have studied photography, but currently I am working myself through a list of childhood dreams. One day I could not motivate me anymore to make photos and instead of doing nothing, I have written down all my dreams from my childhood. And now I am doing all these things one by one: Selling ice cream, driving a excavator, growing dreadlocks, … Currently I am selling ice cream at the Viktualienmarkt. And one day I will just go back to my photography.”

Eis with a smile

Ich stelle es mir sehr schwer vor, von Brasilien kommend in München Fuss zu fassen. Für ihn scheint es ganz einfach zu sein: “Ich bin seit ungefähr 18 Jahren schon in München und ich liebe es. Die Menschen sind so ehrlich. Wenn die Bäckersfrau nicht gut drauf ist, dann sehe ich das, weil sie grantig ist. Und wenn sich jemand falsch in meiner Bar in der Schlange anstellt, dann kann ich das einfach ganz in Ruhe sagen. Die Münchner sagen einfach, was sie denken und bleiben ganz sie selbst. Ich mag das sehr gerne.”

Ich bin auf jeden Fall ganz angetan, von seiner fröhlichen und offenen Art: immer ein Lachen, immer lustig drauf. Und das Beste: er hat das beste Eis der ganzen Stadt in unser Viertel gebracht! Vielen Dank!

I can imagine how hard it must be to settle down in Munich if you are originally from Brazil. He does not seem to have any problems with that: “I live in Munich for about 18 years now and I love it. People here are so honest. If the girl in the bakery is not it a good mood, I can see that because she is grumpy. And if someone is queuing from the wrong side in my bar, then I can point it out to him, no problem. The people from Munich are just saying what they are thinking and they can be who they are. I really like that.”

I am at least very fascinated by his friendly and open way: always with a smile and funny. And the very best: he brought the very best ice cream to our part of town! Thanks a lot!
