“Die Kirche spricht von Barmherzigkeit und Nächstenliebe. Aber wie kann sie davon sprechen und einen großen Teil der Schöpfung – nämlich die Tiere – nicht mit einbeziehen? Der Katechismus sagt, dass der Mensch über all den Tieren steht und sie sich zunutze machen darf. Aber das passt wiederum nicht mit dem Gebot “Du sollst nicht töten” zusammen.

Papst Franziskus hat in seiner Antrittsrede und der Laudatio Si schon die ersten richtigen Ansätze gemacht, aber eine ausdrückliche Stellungnahme der Kirche, um das Tierleid wirklich zu beenden, fehlt leider noch immer.

Wir müssen einfach das immense Leid der Tiere stoppen. Nicht nur in der Tierhaltung, dem Töten von Tieren für den Fleischkonsum und die Leder- und Pelzindustrie und so vielem Leid mehr – auch bei den Tierversuchen. Es ist schon wissenschaftlich erwiesen, das Tierversuche nicht auf den Menschen übertragbar sind.

Ich kann dieses Leid der Tiere einfach nicht ertragen. Und durch die Mahnwachen am Schlachthof oder diese Demonstration hier versuchen wir so viel Aufmerksamkeit wie möglich dafür zu bekommen. Für die Rechte der Tiere, die mir sehr am Herzen liegen.

Ich selber lebe seit meinem 15 Lebensjahr vegetarisch und nun seit sieben Jahren vegan und ich erfreue mich bester Gesundheit. Ich will niemanden verurteilen. Es ist aber die gesündeste Ernährungsform. Der ethische Aspekt davon steht für mich aber ganz klar an erstere Stelle.”

Daniela Böhm ist Tierschutzaktivistin und freie Autorin. Sie hat letztes Wochenende nicht nur den “Die In” vor der St. Michaelskirche organisiert, sondern steht auch hinter den immer wieder abgehaltenen Mahnwachen vor dem Schlachthof.

The church talks about mercy and brotherly love. But how can they talk about those and not include a great part of the creation – the animals? The catechism says that the human being is standing above the animals and is allowed to use them for their needs. But this is not in sync with the fifth commandment “Thou shalt not kill”.

Pope Franziskus has made the first right comments in his first speech and in the Laudatio Si. But a clear statement of the church, to stop the suffering of the animals is still missing.

We just have to stop this immense suffering of the animals. Not only in the animal keeping or the killing of animals for our consume and the leather and fur industry and so many more but also with animal experiments. It is scientifically proven that animal experiments are not transferable onto humans.

I just can not bear this suffering of the animals anymore. With the vigils in front of the slaughter houses (Schlachthof in Munich) or such demonstrations we want to get as much attention as possible. For the rights of the animals which is so important to me.

I live vegetarian since I am 15 and vegan now for 7 years already and I am super healthy. I do not want to judge anyone. But it is the healthiest form of nutrition. But above all the aspect of the ethics is the top important part of it.”
